Howdy, my name is Chaney McCollum and I am the girl behind the keyboard. I am a sophomore at Texas A&M University majoring in Agricultural Communications & Journalism as well as Agricultural Leadership & Development. I found my passion for agriculture at a very young age through my experiences on a cattle ranch in South Texas where we raised F1 Brayfords. During high school I joined my local FFA chapter where I served as my chapter's president and competed in many agricultural advocacy and education speaking events. Through these experiences I developed an interest for agriculture policy.
Now, at TAMU, I am in the Departmental Leadership Honors Program as well as the Texas A&M University Honors Program. I chose to participate in these opportunities as I feel they will challenge me to step out of my comfort zone to
enrich my education through hands-on learning opportunities. I began this blog to extend my agricultural education to others in an easy-to-understand format.
Most often, when I read an agricultural article, I find that it is either not from a first-hand perspective or it is way too scientific to understand and without many examples to help readers make connections. I wanted to use my experiences to offer readable, understandable, and entertaining content to various age groups and I plan to continue producing content for the foreseeable future.
